Trevor Donaghu1 StarSHODDY WORKMANSHIP!
We hired Fitzpatrick specifically to replace an existing 85-foot section of fence in our backyard, and a short section connecting it to our house in front. I hired a contractor because I didn't have the time to build the fence myself (or to supervise anyone else doing it). Instead of taking the time to clear out the area beneath the fence line, so that the fence boards could be set at an appropriate level, the boards were set above ground level, so their tops were higher than 6'.
At the front portion of our yard, where the fence connects to my neighbor's gate, one of the fence boards from the original fence was left in place, presumably because to remove it would have required removing and reinstalling my neighbor's gate (which could have been done easily by simply removing a few bolts). Apart from the fact that the original board is obviously much older and stained a different color than the natural new boards, the new boards were also installed at a much higher level than the original board, resulting in a gap along the top of the fence line at this point.
As noted above, the fence boards on the new fence were set significantly higher (10-12 inches) higher than the other existing fences on our property. This is emphasized at the point where the new fence intersects the existing fence along the back line of our property. Again, totally shoddy craftsmanship.
When I pointed these issues out to John, he simply argued that I had signed a contract for a 6' fence, and that's what he gave me, and that if I wanted the fence lines to match, I should have specified such.
Never again!Tuesday 23rd February 2016
Bud Blasingame2 StarI arranged with John in May of this year. The job was to start late June but didn't get started until mid July, with no calls from John, I called once and he said "we are on track", his not mine. He finished the job with a week and was fully paid. We were watering according to his directions. We had some very hot days so I watered more. As the plants began to die I called John and asked him to come out. He came without called a few days later, left a note on the door to water more, By this time we realized every dripper tube was so far from the plants, some buried under the weed barrier that very little water was reaching the plants. Husband was upset, called John back and left a message. We never heard from him again. I sent an email letter, no response. The drip system was repaired by someone else, every one had to be extended. There are several other issues regarding the unfinished job that should have been completed by John and was not. I gave him several opportunities to take care of all of this and he has not done that. Terrible service and a very uncompromising man. I could not recommend Fitzpatrick Landscaping and Fencing to anyone, in fact I would add, do not hire this man. UPDATE As of early September: After several weeks of not hearing from John I sent a certified letter of my complaint. He then contacted me and came by. After explaining my issues again, John agreed to come back and then completed the job to my satisfaction.Monday 5th September 2016
